Exclamation 2008 Avenger SE - Internal Short at PCM associated with P2006 Intake Runner Stuck Cl

My dilemma starts over at:
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2008-cu...-bank-1-a.html

Fast forward today (March 25th, 2020):
Okay, seems like it is not the intake runner issue and instead an internal short within the Power-Train Control Module or the Main Brain Engine Controller Module located at the Engine compartment.

The GOOD news is that you can continue to drive the car in this condition. If runner gets stuck closed again (dealer erased the error code), car will not have that pep and go like before.

Got and Engine Oil change & Filter plus a new updated factory radiator cap.

All work under $200

Guys,

Anyone out there is kind enough to help a working blok like me?

I am trying to find out how good is it to purchase a refurbished PCM / ECM?

From these guys?

Never mind! I found the above company with just too many bad reviews and one was very recent from March 15th, 2020! Unbelievable!

Exclamation Maven Mopar in New Jersey!

Guys,

Since I have ordered the intake Manifold from Maven Mopar from New Jersey, I have just sent an inquiry about their part number:

R5150518AA

Which can be seen over at their web site:
https://www.partsmaven.com/mopar/oem...bC1sNC1nYXM%3D

I am concern because today I discovered that my daughter's 2008 Dodge Avenge SE is a California Car?? Yes, someone drove it all the way from California to Florida before we bought it! Dang!

Just so you ALL know, we bought it from Enterprise Rental Car in Central Orlando, Florida with 21,115 original miles and paid exactly $12,058 US in 2010.

I feel that the vehicle has provided excellent service to the family and now my daughter. The vehicle still smells new inside and looks new on the outside.

I am not in the least worried about the costs because heck, even new cars are having problems (recall recall and more recalls) and some of which are not recalls and instead Technical Service Bulletins such that the Dealers Pray that you don't find them and better, you bring your car after the main bumper-to-bumper warranty is over such that you pay!

Anyways, I will update you all when I will receive a reply from MAVEN MOPAR and hopefully soon!

New diagnostic tool I bought today at Harbor Freight!

Not going to replace my daughter's 2008 Dodge Avenger PowerTrain Computer! No Sir!

Instead, I will just reset it every three months when the ugly Check Engine Light illuminates at the instrument cluster. It is all the same code P2006 Intake runner Stuck Closed. This is what this Avenger has reported for the past two years now infrequently.

After replacing the complete Intake Manifold twice, it still gives this code every three months! Nope, no more replacing Intake Manifolds!

Dodge dealer diagnosed it and reported that it is an internal short inside the PowerTrain computer. (ECM)

This is because these modern cars get their Engine Management Computers installed in the Engine compartment instead of inside cabin such as the passenger kick floor panel like the older cars!

They want you to keep buying cars!!

Here’s what I did!

Well, just an update to my continued adventures with constant CHECK ENGINE Lights, another (different) Dodge Dealer has claimed that there is nothing wrong with my daughter's Power Train Module.

I took the Avenger to Greenway Dodge here in Orlando, Florida and paid $110 plus tax and fees (Total was around $127.XX to be exact) and they found ZERO issues with the PCM.

However, they gladly gave me a written estimate of over $3,400 to drop the Transmission (Code P0740) to replace the Torque Converter Solenoid Block and the Automatic Transmission Torque Converter.

I replied, "HELL NO!"

I told the service writer that I will keep driving the car until a HARD failure occurs with the Automatic Transmission and then, will tow it to a PRO SHOP and get a rebuild Transmission and will still come out ahead from that estimate.

The Service Writer then, ask me to provide him with my number $$$ of what I felt to pay for the work? WHAT? Of course the estimate was not itemized! So, People watch out for these Service Writers that give you a large estimate without any itemized work!

Be careful out there!
