hey, got a 00 dak slt with a 3.9 in it and the last 3 months the belt was squealing but then it would go away. However , i changed the belt a couple days ago, and i was driving around and the check gauge light came on the volt meter went down to 0 and the truck started to rev and then it dropped and shut off. Now it hasn't shut off since then but it is still squealing and the check gauges light still comes on. wondering if ne1 can help me out? i was thinking it was the alt but when i shut the truck off and turn it back on its fine for about 2 seconds then it squeals again??

plaese help!! the squealing is driving me insane!!!

 

Remove Alt. Take to Autozone and have tested. Fail; replace. Your battery may be quick behind if you keep running it down.
If the Alt is good, replace battery.

Another 3.9 guy might be able to attest if a tensioner or other bearing is known to go...
