Default blower motor resistor

when i picked up this truck going on 3 weeks ago, it was a known issue that i needed a new resistor. no problem, ive done them on other vehicles in the past and never gave them a 2nd thought.

i swapped out the bad one on the truck last week and my daughter and i have driven the truck ALL OF 6 times and for relatively short durations. so MAYBE 25 hours on it.

the resistor has burned out already. having only ever had to replace these ONCE in other cars what might have caused this to happen so quickly? its seated plenty tight in the connector and it was installed correctly as best i can see. just a crappy part? or might there be another underlying issue? the old connector was in great condition with no evidence of overheating or scorching...

Bad part, or possibly failing motor, or bad ground......

ive had blower motors go bad and not affect the resistor and this one sure seems to spin up good.

where would the ground be for this?

Don't know. Gonna need a wiring diagram to find it. I do believe the switch provides the ground path, but, where the actual ground is? Good question.....
