2003 dakota transmission governor solenoid
I just changed the solenoid and sensor, I didn't need to remove the filter (46RE). After you remove the plate (2 star screws, 3, 7/16 bolts) the solenoid will come off with the plate, remove the sensor. Then slide in the new sensor, there is a U channel in the plate that holds the sensor in. Remove the solenoid from the U channel in the plate and install the new solenoid in the u channel (lube the o-rings with ATF). Put the plate back on the VB, align the U channel to mate up the slot in the sensor, then push down on the solenoid, you will hear a "click" when the solenoid is seated. Put the 2 star screws in tight with a screw driver bit and torque the 3, 7/16 bolts to 110 inch lbs. I flushed out the connectors with electrical cleaner, but I don't think that was needed. Would be good to check the torque on the VB bolts, it 100 or 110 inch lbs depending on what source you look at.
