Default 2001 Dakota SLT 3.9L throwing 8 codes

Hi all,

First let me say I am clueless as to auto mechanics. My Dakota was running rough intermittently. It had a dead miss on cyl. 6 since I bought it but always smoothed out as the engine reached higher RPMs. I was told by the mechanic that pulled the valve cover that the engine was very dirty but cyl. 6 still had 100# of compression. The thought was that perhaps there was carbon buildup on the valve and that lead to reduced compression and the misfire. So I ran the truck for 1000 miles with 5 qts. of oil and 1 qt. of Marvel Mystery oil. The dead misfire didn't resolve but now the truck runs rough.

These are the codes the mechanic told me it's throwing: 029, P0300, P0303, P0305, P043,
P0206, P0202, P0306. Any thoughts or suggestions as to where I go from here would be greatly appreciated

The truck has 168,500 miles on it and I just had a re-manufactured trans put in it.

The 3XX series codes are misfire codes, the 2xx series codes are injector control circuit codes. P0043 is O2 sensor heater control circuit,

When is the last time the truck had a tune up? What plugs are currently in it? Condition of cap/rotor/wires??

Thank you HeyYou, the truck had a complete tune up under 20K miles ago. I don't know the plugs that were used. I did look up what the codes indicate but have no idea what I need to do to resolve the issues. The cap and wires were replaced when tuned up. Could it be computer related?

Pull a couple plugs on the misfiring cylinders, and see what they look like, and what type of plugs they are. Just an FYI, these trucks HATE the rare-earth plugs.... and mystery misfires is one of the symptoms...

I forgot to mention that when it starts misfiring when driving if I turn it off and wait perhaps a minute and then start it back up the misfires resolve for a bit but do return.

Due to my disability I can't workout pulling a plug. I have an appointment with the local Dodge dealer. Thank you again for your help.

Have the O2 sensors been changed? These trucks don't like the bosch sensors either.... and you get odd performance problems.

I don't know if the O2 sensor was changed. Thank you for all your help. This seems way beyond me. Hopefully the dealer will sort it. I'll post the results.
