Default my i4

i have a 1997 5 spd i4 dakota and i was thinking of putting an electric supercharger it and exhaust and and decent CAI computer work
should I do that or just buy a older ram engine from a junkyard and fixing it up and putting it in it
i think it'd be cool to have a 4banger truck that can beat v8s
just leave me your opinions
thanks!

there pretty much next to nothing for the I-4 in the daks as far as i know... talk to batman 13, he may have some useful advice.. but taking down some v-8s.. not a snowballs chance in hell, my v6 can barely hold much.. if your gonna do an engine swap, your better off just trading in the truck.. and the eltric super charger is just as good as a throttle body spacer... a decent paper weight.. if anything the engine will pull in air faster then the super charger can put out, causing a vaccum creating the engine to work harder

drop in a k&n air filter or intake. then drive the truck into the ground, its a good work truck so leave it at that. past that i think its a waste of money but i suppose you could do a aftermarket muffler under drive pulley (dont know if they make it for a 4 banger) and synthetic fluids. your best bet wont be to "create" power but rather reduce drag on the motor with synthetics and the under drive. like i said though, i dont think it would be cost effective for the gains you would see. i dont think you would be able to realize more then 10-15 HP between everything

lmao, an electric supercharger and a CAI and exhaust = beating a v8? those 3 mods to your 4 cyl wil gain you maybe 10 horsepower at the wheels. an electric supercharger is worthless. a CAI and exhaust may get you a little better gas mileage but thats about it. you'll never beat a v-8 with an I-4 unless you spend about 20 thousand dollars in turbos and all forged internals.

The truck is just too much weight for the engine, those mods won't help enough,
the engine itself, however, is pretty tough,
it's a good work engine if you move mowers around all day.
I'd say go with the CAI and Exaust because they are good for the engine. ditch the SC.
save the money for the 360.

(I just started putting plans in motion for a SC 402 Magnum or a SC 426 HEMI)
