Default TIRES! LARGE! MUD! size?

Alright fellas...I need some advice. I have a Stock to the bone 1999 Dodge dakota Sport Standard Cab 2wd Manual w/15" rims. I know it might sound crazy but i would like to put the largest size mud terrain on it that i can *WITHOUT LIFTING*. People have told me that the largest i can go is a 31x10.5x15 while others are telling me i will have a real problem with rubbing. Is there anyone out there that has already been through this that has some experience that i could draw from? PLEASE HELP!

our trucks come stock with 31x10.5. thats the biggest I would go if your not gonna lift it.

you could do a 2" torsion/shackle lift for $50 then you could fit 32" or 33" depends on how wide ya go and what rims you will use.

When you say "our trucks" are you meaning 4x4? Do you think i would have to do any trimming with 31x10.5's? Alos i have never heard of a torsion/shackle lift. what is this exactly?

he doesnt have torsion bars.. hes 2wd... umm you can either do a body lift or a suspension.. otherwise your not gonna get much biggers tires... plus bigger tires puts a larger strain on your rear axle... if you search the forum you can find some info about that.. i know on the 4x4's.. the front axle will spilt from major abuse with large tires

I put the 31x10.x15's on my truck that originally came with 235/75r15's. I have no rubbing what-so-ever of any kind, but my truck is a 2001 4x4 SLT with stock suspension. Before i purchased my tires, i did a search on this site, and correct me if i'm wrong, but i remember reading something about some people having to do some trimming with those tires on a 2 wheel drive. Can someone chime in?

go to an auto parts store like autozone, get a 2" block lift kit, and then since your 2wd, I THINK you can get coil spring spacers (i may be wrong i drive an 06) that are also 2" of lift. The rear blocks are easy as pie to do, if you can do an oil change, or change a tire, you can tackle a block lift, or you could get it all installed, spacers for the front are usually like $75-$90, and the rear blocks can be had at autozone for $25 complete with longer U-bolts. They you can go any bolt up 32" or 33" tires, and not waste your money on such a small gain.

This is an easy and inexpensive lift, when your probablly going to spend $400 on these tires, whats another $100 to really get the look? I did my 06 with spacers and blocks, cheap budget solution, but its been done for years.

Is it true that if you do the torsion bar/shackle block lift that it will cause uneven wear on the tires and also handling issues?

some of these guys that know alittle more might be of more help but from my learning of this torsion/shackle lift it is possible to get bad alignment. which in turn could wear your tires uneavenly and cause handling issues. but a simple 50$ alignment could fix this. but like i said i have just recently been reading up on it so if i am wrong forgive me. but i believe that this is what you were looking for

aslong as you do an alignment afterwards you will be fine. I was getting ready to do it to mine... then I found out my engine is about to give up[:@]
