RE: Exhaust
buy a harley, then you can have a loud exhaust. you have to remember one thing. the law. you might want to check the noise statue in you part of town. anyone can call the cops after 9 pm and say there is a mad man with a loud exhaust running up and down the street. in my state cops travel with decible meters in their rigs for this purpose. to loud they give you a ticket and tow vecichle. it is a nuisance law

RE: Exhaust
superdak is correct ,check your local ordinance's for noise polution and make sure there isnt anything pretaining to exhaust .
alot of times the police do carry the decibal meters to read those thumping window rattling stereo's ,but they do frown on extremely loud exhaust tones also
here in pa there isnt really anything they can do simply because the inspection laws require atleast 1 sound deadening devise which would be the Cat since according to my cousin whom is a inspection mechanic and he owns the local exhaust shop ,he is also the 1 that does 95% of the cat backs in the area

RE: Exhaust
Hello all, newbie as of today. I've got an 04 V8. I'm not worried about performance or waking the neighbors. I drive about 15 miles round trip everyday. I want to idle at a red light or parking lot and know I have a V8. That's all. Nice, understated throaty sound, like old trucks from the late 70's and early 80's sounded. I'm looking recommendations, economical recommendations.

Come on now....if you were looking for an economical ideas, you probably shouldnt have gotten a V8 truck. All jokes aside, like for an exhaust? That all personal preferences. Although I did ask what people thought I should get too. I went with the single in, single out 3" with a Flowmaster 40 on mine. It sounds great.

RE: Exhaust
yeah....deffinatly a prefernce thing...
Most people would agree that Flowmaster and Magnaflow have the best sounds.
flowmaster 40 series, IMO sounds like the "older style" hot rods. Low rumble, nice enginey sound when on the throttle. Single will be ok, dual will be louder. Either way, it will be louder than stock.
Go to Flowmaster and Magnaflows websites. They have sound clips you can listen to for your engine size. BTW...... Welcome to DF!!!
