id start with checking ur alternator....that is my guess, sounds like somthing is going out on it...take it to ur local autozone...better to have it changed now than get stranded...

Mine is doing the same thing. Seems to only happen when downshifting to a stop? It doesn't seem to happen if I coast to a stop. Thoughts anyone?

yup just fixed this on 2 of my trucks. my check gauges would come on and oil pressure would drop, when stopping or taking a hard right turn. so just to check things out i added a 1/2 quart of oil to my 2000 durango. that fixed the problem. then tried it in my 2001 dakota, and it fixed the problem there too. it has been 4 months and no probs. it was just low enough on oil that when the truck shifted. it would set of the mil.

had the same thing on my 99,turns out it was low on oil, made me get under the truck as i had just done a oil change a few weeks earlyer, and found the filter wasn't tight enough makeing a small leak, bless that little light that saved me a pain in the butt later.

A leaking oil pressure sensor can cause that problem too. I've replaced a bunch of those things because of that same problem.....oil pressure on the gauge drops to or near 0 at idle because the sensor is leaking inside the connector and shorting it out.
