Default Water pump.

My water pump blew at 80,000 miles, and i lost my power steering at about 78,000.I dont think this was normal. I think they should have lastedlonger.Did anybodyelse have these things blow atlower mileage?

Just before 95,000 here I lost mine... Not sure if it was the original or not... i've only had the truck since about 70,000... So... maybe not...

Seems odd that you guys are losing pumps so fast. I replaced mine at 80k miles along with the timing chain because I was in there doing the intake plenum fix anyway, but the pump was just fine. Like with any part it's possible to have a bad batch, or odd mineral content in your water, or something that might make it fail faster.

Yeah- i completely agree. Do you guys keep up with the preventive maintenance on your radiators?? Rusty water can cause all kinds of problems

I feel your pain man. The 90" dakota i had was nothing but trouble. Alright, we replaced the: 1. rear end. 2. water pump. 3. head gaskets. 4. 3 stes of valve cover gaskets. 5. transmission lines. 6. Front wheel bearings and hubs. 7. front roters and pads. 8. Ithink the back brakes too. 9. And i never got around to doing the transfer case because we traded it in for the 99'I have now.
