Default Please: Need help. Replaced my battery but car will not idle???

Hello all. I need some help please.

I have a 2001 dodge dakota, it has been running fine. My battery died and I replaced it this morning, however, when i turn the ignition the truck will not turn over, if i give it gas it will rev but when I let go of the pedal it shuts off. I waited till this afternoon and started it up, It turned over and I drove it around a small circle in my neighboorhood and when I parked and shut it off, it won't idle again.

What could be the cause? I am going to put the truck in the shop tomorrow but it would be good to have an idea of what it could be, please someone help.

And, thank you.

it could be simple sometimes when your battery goes dead your computer has to relearn all its settings but if you went out and drove i dont know if that would be it

you have got a bum battery. what happens is the computer needs a certain amount of power from the battery to keep truck running. its not like the old days when you could disconnect the battery and the alternator would keep truck running. make sure your connections are good. and you have the correct amperage battery.

well a computer doesnt require that much voltage and very little amperage... but the battery could have a fault, take the battery out a nd go have it load tested at autozone or advance auto or whereever, if thats not the case, then the comp needs to be reset or its shot

could just be your connections happened to me in my jeep and all it was, was a loose negative so go clean and check those before you spend any money on a new one or something.
