BFG is the way to go and if you like a/t tires with excellent road manners (better than the GY wranglers that came stock on the D and those are built for the road) go with the bfg at like mine and they are great off road too.

I went with a set of 265/70SR16 Yokohama Geolander H/T'sfrom tire rack and have had great luck with them.
They have been a good highway tire in dry snow and rain and I haven't got stuck off
the road camping yet.
When they took the factory Goodyears off I had weights all over the rim, with the Yok's only
one rim needed a small weight to balance it, the guy said has never had four perfectly balanced
tires that close before.

I got 31/10.5/r15 cooper s/t's and so far I have enjoyed them. They do make a decent amount of road noise at lower speeds 25-35mph but it quiets down above when you go faster.
