Default exhaust question.....dumping?

I had a magnaflow 3" SI/SO catback installed today. Sounds freakin sweet. Alot better than the flowmaster imho. No more snap, crackle, pop. lol

My question is would it make any difference if i cut the exhaust pipe right after the muffler (right before the pipe bends to go over the axle)? Im just not happy with the way the pipe looks behind the rear tire. I have body moulding back there, so the only way they could get the pipe to fit is to angle it down towards the ground. So...it looks pretty ****ty. I have read some posts of people dumping the exhaust after the muffler, but i dont want it to hurt the way that it runs. Would this make any difference??

Thanks for the input guys...

the muffler is what makes the sound you like, if you cut any peice off the end of the tail pipe it wont change the sound.

shouldn't affect it to much...it will make it a little louder and just make sure you angle it out to the side so that it wont fill your cab with fumes when ur at a stoplight or something.

No...im not trying to change the sound. Im wondering if it will have an effect on the way the truck runs.

I dont see it hurtin it. I mean after the muffler is just pipe. I'd be willing to bet that cutting off 3ft in pipe or so would hurt it. Its not like your cutting it off at the headers.

ya if you cut after the mufflers, atleast get some turndowns made for it.. a dump is useally before the muffler, and thats where you get the loud **** from, not sure if you run better for worse.. ive never capped my dump on my truck.. i want to just to see how it would sound and run..

the only thing i recomend is putting a turndown on it after you cut it off because exhaust is corrosive and you will rust out your bed truck it will run fine after you cut it off. I like exhaust that is dumped right after the muffler Good choice *thumbs up*

Not by choice. But before I had my Magnaflow exhaust put on, adifferent exhaust shop tried and failed to do a flowmaster setup. After several hours of trying to run the pipe, they justgave up. So...since itwas late, and I needed to leave. They just left the muffler on, and did a couple of drops out the back.

Let me tell you, it wasLOUD!!I mean really really reallyLOUD!!!

It's definitely notsomething I would want to drive every day. I did a 200 mile road trip the next day, and I was ready to take it off as soon as I got back. Having a conversation in the (Quad)cab was almost impossible. But if youjust had an extra cab or somethingsmaller, it might not be so bad. I don't know???

That's just my experience with it[8D] Good luck...
