Hello i need your advices guys !
I just did an oil change today. what happened, is after having drained the oil and changed the filter, i noticed that i bought the wrong grade of oil. instead of having a 4.4 litres of Castrol High mileage 10W30, i hada container ofCastrol high mileage 5W30. Usually, i use 5W30 for winter and 10W30 for summer. Is the 5W30 is still good, or its too thin for the summer weather. And if it is, is lucas oil stabiliser would help bringing my oil thicker ? Thank for your input ! oh and is that high mileage thin is only bull**** or it does improve something ?

It's not a big deal but just so you know you want to stick to the sameweight all the time. Unless you are getting well below 0* in the winter I would just use 10w30 all year long. As for the higher mileage thing I'm sure it is just to sell you a few quarts of oil. If you want to be really nice to your engine use synthetic.

no not a problem my dads manual actually says that if you cannot get 10w30 that the next best one to use is 5w30 so go ahead and use it as it wont hurt the engine and it is what he has been running until just recently because we just started seeing the 10w again and he put like 60000 on it w/ 5w oil

i usually throw in about 1/2-3/4 of a bottle of lucas anyways. It all depends on what i feel haha. But as the difference in high mileage oil goes, all that they do is add a few more additives that are a benefit to worn engines. I'd just stick with lucas.

Unless you're driving in extremely high temperatures, say 90 degrees plus for extended periods at high speeds, you should be fine. As stated the best thing is to run synthetic.
