Default tranny in trouble

well after awhile i noticed that when i do WOT, whenever the 42re would shift from 2-3, let alone the fact that she wont shift out of first unless i let off the gas, you would hear some sort of scrapping, unnerving type of noise, now i know sometimes the tranny will gear hunt there as well so with my luck i have slipping plates... today when i gunned it in reverse to get up a nice hill, it made the same sound, is there bands to be adjusted cause im definately going to do a fluid change tomorrow.. thanks

When a transmission has shifted into 3rd or 4th gears and then you do a WOT ( wide open throttle ) the transmission should kick down to a lower gear ( aka ) passing gear 4-3 or 3-2. If you are having late or early shifting the throttle cable may need a adjustment, there are two bands inside the transmission that can be adjusted too.

my problem with the transmission is:

1 wont shift out of 1st gear when WOT from a stop, unless i let off throttle

2 will hunt between 2nd and 3rd sometimes

3 shrieks when shifts from 2nd to 3rd while WOT

4 sound occured once while in reverse with heavy throttle

no kickdown problems present just those which i stated
