Just purchased a 1998 Dakota (3.9L/V6) with 79k miles! It took some time to find one with low miles!! I have a few questions that I could use some assistance with: (1) Prior to buying this truck, I had researched the vehicle and found out that a lot of owners were replacing trannys. Why is this? I plan to tow a small boat (about 1600-1800 pounds). Will this be okay without having to buy a heavy duty tranny or installing trans cooler? (2) I noticed that the truck has a really good set-up for an after market K&N Filter intake kit. If you agree, what model do I need and how much will that set me back? Will it require a lot of mods to install? (3) It came with a sunroof! Is this nromal or was it an aftermarket add-on? The owner I bought it from didn't know. He said he got it that way from the prior owner before him. Are there any water leak problems associated with this sunroof that I should know about? Thanks for all you help. kotaman!

 

umm i would guess that the sunroof was aftermarket, and if u wait long enough, alot of the guys on here have bolt on cai and the tranny probs are mostly w/ v8s which are used for towing and equipped w/ the 42re tranny, the v6s dont really put out enough power to destroy them, at least not that ive heard

 

Whats up man . i got a cold air intake from ebay for really cheap and it took maybe five minutes to install

 

Be weary of Ebay kits. Most of them are "HOT" air intakes.

 

that is true, make sure that the e-bay kit is a real COLD air intake if you go that route

 

Or relocate them to make them cold

 

and watch out on wich ones you buy too. some of them are total junk. make sure it atleast has a heat shield. I bought one and after a lil modification it fit.
