Default A/C and a few other things.

Okay i searched the forums to no avail. okay the A/C on my truck blows fine just no cooling, my buddy says it also has stuff blowing in when i run it he told me the A/C has a filter behind it to block things from coming in, i didn't know they had filters but i'm no pro so that's why I'm asking you guys.(I haven't seen it for my self so i can't say for sure.) i would like to fix this my self but i am told the EPA only lets trained professionals do it because of the freeon, I'm not sure if that's true.

off topic and vehicle My moms old chevy 87 van has a surging problem when it idels and i'm not sure what would cause the problem. any help with these things would be greatly appreciated! thanks again

You might want to go down to your local auto parts store and get an A/C recharge kit. Check to see what pressure it is running at right now.

As far as your mother's surging problem, it sounds like a vacuum leak.

Is surging at idle bad? It is all relative. If you can deal with the fluctuating idle problem, then it isn't a big deal. I would recommend checking it out though, as it could just be the tip of the iceberg, or a very simple fix.

i guess it only does it when it's cold, but i don't know for sure. it seems bad to me. when it's in drive and giving it no gas, it surges high enough to make the van get going to the point where i have to break, and low enough where it has no idle speed.
