Dakota 4.7 header install (pics)
I spent the better part of Sunday installing my Gibson headers in the Dakota. Total install time was about 5 hours. Overall they were not too hard to install. The worse part was getting to a few of the bolts. Some of them are real tight against the headers and it is very difficult to get a wrench (or fingers) on them.
I really cant tell any dramatic power increase but I also really wasnt expecting much of one. As for the sound compared to the stock manifolds all I can say is "Wow". Im running the GSM true duals w/o cats. The Spintechs are pretty loud without the cats. And with the stock manifolds they sounded like a pair of glasspacks. But now the headers have really mellowed out their tone.
Anyone with a 4.7 whos thinking of getting a set of headers try JcWhitney. I got the Gibsons for $310 shipped!

MY truck is a 2001 QC. Thanks for the compliment on the Kota!!
There really wasnt a noticeable difference in power. But I wasnt really expecting it. Theyre just going to help out the total package in the long run. As within the next couple of years im going to buy a KB supercharger for the truck.
The thing that really surprised me the most with the headers is how much different it made my exhaust sound. Im running the GSM True Duals w/o cats and the Spintech mufflers. Let me tell you this thing is LOUD. With the stock manifold it had a very "raspy" sound , kinda like a glasspack. But with the headers installed it really mellowed out the tone.
One other thing about these headers is for some reason Ive heard they do not fit on a 2004. Another person over on www.dakotausa.com has a 2004 and he too installed his headers on Sunday. But there is some kind of clearance problem on the drivers side with an 04.
If anyones interested I got these headers for $310 shipped from JcWhitney.

Had my black chrome tailpipes installed today. I had these installed to come out on either side of my trailer hitch. Originally I had a 4" round set of pipes coming out under the hitch and it ended up being too low to the ground.

Next up on the mod list. My ASP underdrive pulley.

Hopefully by next week im gonna take the Spintechs off (and put them on my 93 5.0) and put a pair of Flowmaster 50 series on in their place. The Spins are just too loud for my everday vehicle.
