Rear end gear ratio?
What's the best way to figure out what rear-end I have in my Dakota? I'm going to be pulling a boat, and according to the manual, I can have a GVWR of 9200 or 9400 with one gear ratio, and 10500 with the deeper gears (3.92 I believe). How do I tell which I have?
if you cant find it on text or stickers, spin the driveshaft and mark the tire.. count the number of full turns the shaft makes when your tire goes one full rotation. and up the number of times you rotated the shaft and thats what you got.
Also on your dif case there should be little metal tags that say what ratio you have along with axle type.
Check your Owners manual...

all R/T's came with a 9.25 rear end with 3.92 gears. mbreitbaif your truck is an SLT it probably has 3.55 gears.

more than likely if an R/T doesnt have power windows and stuff, someone faked one by putting a 5.9 and R/T rims with decals and stuff. I have never seen or heard of an R/T comming from the factory with 3.55's.

it is in the glove box to make things easy but if it has the factory tow package it should have 3.92's im not 100% sure about that but all the ones i've seen have been like that
