4.7L misfiring
I'll cut to the chase... It sounds like my engine is misfiring, but I get absolutely NO codes, just the P done. I changed all the spark plugs today and still nothing. I'm having a friend bring over his computer tomorrow to plug it in to see if that will pull up anything. Until then.... any ideas of what I should look at or for.
the truck doesn't shake all that much. more so than it did before i noticed before this happened, but not as much as on previous vehicles where i have had misfiing occur.

So, my friend came over with is snap on computer... it was like a laptop. pretty freaking gnarly $7000 machine. anyway, he pulled up NOTHING, not a single code.
I told him the story about how it all started after 5 min of filling up at the Chevron station. So, we took a look at the gas... it was an amber color!I put in some new gas and it is running better, but stillsounds like it ismisfiring. He was kind of stumped after that. He didn't have much time and so he's going to come back. He didsay that fuel pump's pressurewas low, but wasn't completely sure that would be causing it. So he was going to come back and bring a fuel pressure guage and get some ideas from his co-workers.

Plain and simple, you could've gotten some bad gas. Occasionally, some stations don't realize that moisture builds up in their tanks over time. In CA, stations HAVE to have tank monitoring systems, i.e. for leaks, water in the fuel, etc. Maybe you filled up when their tanks were low, and got some water in your fuel. Or perhaps they just had their tanks refilled, which mixed up the water with the fuel. It's rare, but it happens.
The key point is, your baby started running better when you put more gas in. If I'm not mistaken, the computer will not throw a code if you have bad fuel. Throw a fuel conditioner in your tank and see what happens.
This is a perfect example of the KISS theory. Keep It Simple, Stupid. No, I'm not saying I think you're stupid. I've chased out problems with cars in my past, just to find out it was...oh, let's say, a bad connection to the battery...or an electrical connection that I forgot to plug back in...there are many more examples.
Just my two cents.
