hmm did not think of that, might have to try that next time, but my truck has the 4.7 which is coil on plug, any easy way to disengage that w/o removing all the coils???

I am in the same boat. But I am not sure if I would want to try it either with no oil, even if it is just a couple cranks.

its safe... your truck wont seize, some idiot at my work forgot to put oil in a ar before they drove it out and they started it up, drove it for about 15 secs and it didnt seize, had time to put oil in it and starrt it back up..

when i do oil changes it takes me about 2 hours, i wait till that thing drips super can slow, then crank it over without the ignition, every 10min about 5 times, and then pour some new oil though it about 1 qt, and then turn it over again, and then pour about 1/2qt though it, by this time the oil coming out should look like the **** your pour in it, i use royal purple, so when you see purple coming out the drain hole your good, thats how i do it atleast every 3k miles.

as for the 4.7 and there super high tech coil packs, i dont know. Isnt there a primary control for the firing.. if so unplug it, ive never tried it with a 4.7.. but the dude that gave me this tip had a QC 4.7 so i dont know.

Been thinking of installing a remote filter on mine. My old sonoma came with one from the factory and it made chanign oil pretty damn easy and spill free.
