Apparently so is clean air. It always makes me laugh when people are chopping cats out of their daily drivers. I am by no means a "green" guy, but I think it is rather selfish to have a daily driver without a cat on it. If you auto is track/strip only, then go for it, otherwise do everyone else in the world a favor.

I have a magnaflow high flow cat on mine. whats soo ***** about that? its alot better then a stock cat and you will still pass emissions. you dont gain alot of power just by not having a cat

I have four dodge trucks. My 1997 RAM 4x4 with a 360 and auto transmission plugged the factory cat at around 175,000 miles. Cut it off with a sawzall, chipped out all the guts and welded it back on. Did the black tape over the check engine light and otherwise so no changes in perceived power or fuel mileage. Truck now has 315,000 miles and is still running fine.

Did the same with my 1993 Dakota 4x4 with v-6 at around 160,000 miles. It now has 265,000 miles and has not even thrown the check engine light. Fuel mileage went up one mpg and power seemed better than ever but no dyno proof just perceived and that could be because it had lost lists of power due to lack of proper airflow before I gutted the converter.

My 1992 2wd drive Dakota stopped up its converter just over a year ago and gutted its converter and welded it back. This Dakota is a V-6 with auto transmission and has acted up ever since. Can get it to run perfect at highway speeds but it will sputter at low speeds. Can twist screws and get it run great at low speeds but it will then backfire at highway speeds. Been frustrating. Have hit a happy medium where it runs o.k. at all speeds but not great like the other two. Anyone have a tip for the little 92 dakota? Putting a new cat on it would cost more than the book value of the truck.

I just cut off my cat on my 99 dakota v6 and got two non-fouler plugs for spark plugs and drilled one out with a half inch drill bit so the sensor would fit in it and screwed the other one onto that and put it back in the pipe and no CEL's. When I pulled my cat it was pretty much gutted and I didn't have the money to put one back in. The non-foulers I think were about $3 for a pack of two.

spark plug non-foulers are the way to when you have 4 o2 sensors remember to stuff steel wool around the sensor in the fouler. This is done on the second o2 after the cat.

Im basically straight piped and have zero problems. I get like 15-16 mpg in heavy city driving and 20-23 highway miles. The air cleaner and exhaust helped with 3mpg and that's a TON for under 50 bucks.

So if I removed my cat do I have to re still the straight pipe and insert the front 02 or can I just cut the the wires to both and leave it ??

What does happen if you have clogged cats with your vehicle?

Clogged cats will kill your performance. If bad enough the engine won't run.
