Looking to buy one and i cant seem to find out the one and only question.[&:]

Its got three performance modes.

1- i guess you can use 87 maybe 89 for min. performance upgrades
2- i guess maybe 89 maybe 91 for better then the first upgrade
3- i guess you use 94 for the max. performance

also is there a mode were you can do like economical for better gas mpg? hahaha ya right!

if you go to there website they will tell you everything. I thnik this has also been coverd before if you want to search for it.

The only programmer i used was a Hypertech. Didnt like it, so i sold it and now have a Whole New Performance PCM, does alot more then the little chips and programmers.

I did a dyno pull one day with my programmer on and off the truck, first pull was the same as the last pull, the only thing that programmer did was increase my speed to 128 instead of 115, and maybe got me +.5mpg ... no performance though. The torque/hp curves where the same... for the pulls.

ive herd of Superchips working better for dodges then Hypertech since hyper is Gm based.. but you buy a use don on ebay or somthing for like 150-250$ and if you dont like it you can turn around and sell it.. they sell pretty good. dont get me wrong though.. they do help, i just dont think 400$ is worth what they give you though.. you can buy a new pcm or have one flashed for that amount.. and get WAY better functions.

I seen a noticable gain on my truck with the superchips.

user, when you did you dyno with the hypertec on and off. did you take it for a drive in between? cause when I program mine it takes a couple miles to kick in. same when I take it out completely.

I have an 03 4.7 quad cab Dakota and have the superchips programmer. There are three settings to it. 87 octane performance, towing performance (91 or better octane) and performance mode (91 or better octane). I've tried all three and notice the most difference with the towing performance. I have no access to a dyno, but I can feel that it shifts harder/quicker and acceleration seems better, especially in towing mode. I would guess that is mapped for getting a trailer going, so more power down low. I should also preface this that I have the 5sp automatic. I have heard that the manual trans trucks won't see much, if any, improvement. This summer, I towed my motorcycle to Asheville, NC from Mooresville, IN. One way I used 87 performance and the other way used towing performance. I got the same mileage both ways, but had better take off with the towing performance setting.

Just my findings, yours may differ. Good luck.

if you disconnect the - termanl for 30 secs with the ignition on, and then reconnnect the battery and start the truck 3 times in a row.. it will reset the pcm completely.. (people say drive 150-200miles to reset) well thats 1 tank of gas for me.. so uhh no thanks. What i just said does the same thing.

i just got my Mopar Performance PCM in today and installed it.. ****ing truck shifts a HELL OF ALOT better, and i noticed a diffrence in Throttle and od and od off gears... There is a Hemi SC SB ram talking **** to me... ive ran him before when i first got my truck he won by about 1 truck length or so.. then i raced him again like a month ago.. and i hung with him till 3rd gear and i pulled hard (he used the excuses that he shut down early) and now with the pcm it seems i picked up a bit or low end power so i should be able to pick on him in 1st anf 2nd and blow his ****ing doors off in 3rd... cant wait to tell him to shuv it.

I use superchips. The 87octane setting will get me 19/21 mpg. I have it set for max performance right now, with noticeable gain. Maybe 10-15 horsepower? On the performance setting I only got 15.5 mpg until I added a CIA. Now I get 17.9 mpg.
Haven’t tried to go back to the 87octane setting, I enjoy passing people on country roads too much! My main benefit is the wheel size adjustment for the odometer and the higher RPM settings and dialogistic codes.
