Default Best Bang For My Buck?

I have a 2000 dodge dakota quad cab v8. i think it is a 4.7 but it feels like a 5.9. but anyways i was wondering what would be the best performance upgrade for it?

well it all depends on if it is 4x4 or 2wd. depending on the motor the best is always tearing into it for a nice cam kit. better then any plug and play out there.

I'd say the best bang for the buck would be nitrous

only problem is that it can wear out your engine pretty quick if you misuse it, and in most places it's illegal to use on public roads.

I'd start off with the basic stuff and go on from there. get a CAI, exhuast, a 'chip', and then you can go from there

Chances are you have a 5.9l, it will say on the sticker under the hood.

I agree with the basics. Get a nice cold air intake (Not a cheapy ebay, suck hot air from right over the exhaust type), get some decent exhaust and go from there. These items won't add a whole lot by themselves, but as you keep adding other parts they will build on each other andtheir combined gain will be greater if the parts you have let them work to their full potential.

I don't know what was meant by a "chip" but do NOT buy a JET chip, they do not work on our motors. Superchips, and PCM flashes are the way to go.

that was what I meant. I'm looking at the superchips tuner myself for my next mod, it looks usefull.

After you get some of the basics out of the way, you can go with other fun stuff like a new intake manifold, throttle body, and headers. I personally wont do any internal changes to my motor until I have another vehicle to drive as a daily driver, as my intended mods are a touch on the radical side for a street driven truck. But then again, from what I hear, 'Kota's truck is pretty sick too

That year 4.7L has nearly as much power as the 5.9L, and the new one actually has more power than the 5.9L did. It's a completely different engine design, so the displacement means nothing.

the 4.7 is a strong engine. and i agree with the rest of guys. cai exhuast and a superchip programmer are the way to go. personally i would also do a set of headers and a highflow cat. just so you can set off car alarms when u go by them. oh and no muffler. thats just my personnal opinion
