Default Removing Cat.

So my cat is starting to go, it began making a really gross noise, so I am debating whether to replace or remove. Warranty is no issue. Cost is somewhat. I just want to know can I remove it and still have my truck run fine.It is a 2000 Dakota 4.7L 4x4.There isanO2 sensor on either side of the cat. CanI remove it without having the check engine lightalways on or poorrunning? Anyhelp or suggestions greatly appreciated

ok... so it looks like I'll be fine. Can I remove the o2 sensor after the cat as well to prevent the Check Engine light?

Buy a fake sensor. They make the computer think you still have a cat... With no cat = better preformance, well bottom end might be an issue.

i did my cat today, replaced with a magnaflow high flow, just for kicks i unplugged the downstream o2 and started it, threw a code instantly. my truck idles soooo much better now and my power is back also. i wouldnt recommend punching it out or removing any o2's

part# 94606, i have heartthrob cat back duals. if you are planning on doing this you should have a bender to bend new pipe as my truck has a crossmember in the way and had to bend a new pipe to go over it and weld in new nuts for the downstream o2. kind of a pain in the ***.
