Default Chip/Programmer

I've been looking into a chip/programmer. Many people say that the JET chips don't work with Dakota engines. A Superchip programmer looks like that's what people use. How difficult is the programmmer to use. Do I have to control the settings on the engine or does the programmer just change everything for me. I'm an amatuer mechanic so trying to use a programmer might be frustrating. I guess my main question is: should I use a programmer or is there a chip that works with our engines. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a superchips programmer and I love it. it takes about 10 minutes to install. you just hook it upto the OBD2 port and follow the instruction on the screen.

welcome to DF... the 2 programmers that are prefered are the hypertech and the superchips... the programs take care of everything, you have the rev limiter & top speed limiter options to play with. also both have a tow mode of sorts as well as the performance mode... I've personally had the hypertech on a 360 and loved it.
