Default Standard or auto for off-road?

Im thinking of getting another truck for off roading. For on road i only drive standards but for something thats going to be a project and mostly off road, I want the best and i assume it doesnt matter to much. More control with a standard but easier with an auto. What do you al think?

Auto that you can select the gears. Most hard core off roaders perfer auto because you only have 2 feet and it is hard to work three pedales.

I agree with you both.

imnothot no i havent been hardcore off roading because i only have one car. Thats one the the main reasons i want a second truck. Or maybe a car even and play with my current dak

Spencea thats the thought i had too. If i dont want it to shift i can just put it in 1 and itll stay and then i can 2 foot the gas and brake.

Thanks for the info so far. Anyone else have an opinion?

That is true. I always forget something when i post[:@]

Im mostly into the technical stuff and less mudding. I like the chalange of climbing, having to pick your path and what have you.

Thats what im thinking too but my buddies son has a cherokee that i could proly get very cheap. It runs well it just has one problem that should be easy to fix. BUT its an auto. I normaly dont like autos but the price is right and i guess i could always change it to a manual later if i need to. Thanks for the input tho

I would go with a standard for off roading.
