RE: hughes stage one intake
You missed the point.....if you want to build up a V6 3.9L I said more power to you.......but dollar for dollar you can get more horse power out of a V8 4.7L...but do as you like and when you think your truck can beat mine I would love to race you....prove me wrong....I don't know where you get the ricer comment ...I have added to many mods and to keep chaning my signature everytime I add something is a pain plus it is as full as the site allows.....enjoy your truck...I love my truck and I loved the V6 I had after all it is a Dakota.

Seriously? When did this turn into a ricer forum? My mods are better than your mods? Realy? I drive a truck because you can actualy do something with it, like off-road or haul lumber, not just argue over mufflers. Come on.[sm=boosign.gif]

You could boost these engines to pull really good. I talked to a guy who got 21-20 mpg going 60 mph pulling a trailer in their v8 dakota. They put a new cam, high compression pistons, valves so on. A v6 should be pulling 239, which is it's displacement, you can get 1 hp for ci. Now a days you can usally get 2 hp per ci. maybe a little less but it can go.

ill argue this one, theres barley any aftermarket for the 4.7, no intake manifolds, cams are way expensive,KRC is the only place that really does anything with the 4.7 and they want your first born to get any power out of it now if you would have said 5.2 or 5.9 id agree there just because your starting out with 60 more hp right off the bat BUT a 3.9 is just a 5.2 with 2 cylinders lopped off, the only thing that would be hard to come by in the aftermarket would be cam selection or a crankshaft. pistons, rods, valvetrain are all identical youll actually save money cause you only have to buy 6 pistons or 12 roller rockers ect..

my truck with a few stupid bolt ons beats modded R/T's difference between a 5.2 and a 5.9 is 10hp and 35ft/lb barley even a seat of the pants feel difference but yet the 5.2 is a dog? maybe in a 4x4 quad cab ram but not im my 2wd 5 speed dakota. i get retards all the time in R/T trucks that lose asking if i have a 5.9 only to get the "nope just a little 318" in response and usually they dont look happy
