hughes stage one intake
I had to remove my manifold due to getting a bolt broken off and stuck in the thermostat housing. Ive decided to get a stage one intake manifold from hughes engines for my 2001 3.9. Does anyone have one of these intakes? They are ported and shortened the runners to 14'. the kit also comes with a re-enforced plenum gasket with a new billet plenum pan installed. This is good because after i took off my manifold, i realized the gasket started to leak due to a couple small pools of oil laying on top of the plenum pan. Anyway, i was just wondering if anyone has one of these and what i can expect to gain performance wise?? also, will the stage one manifold do any good with just a stock throttle body. I plan on getting an f&b or hughes stage one TB maybe in the spring but now i dont have any money. After that it'll be 1.7 roller rockers and headers. With all my mods combined, my 3.9 should be putting out some decent power. thanks for your input.

RE: hughes stage one intake
i just ordered it tonight. I'm not expecting any big gains due to the fact I still have a stock TB. However, when I do upgrade to a better TB it should do alot of good. The best thing about the whole deal is that the intake they'll send me will have a 1/4 inch steel re-enforced plenum gasket with a brand new billet plenum already installed so I wont ever have to worry about changing the plenum again. After I took off my intake I noticed pools of oil on the plenum pan, so i knew it was going bad anyway. If your truck knocks at all, I recommend checking that out.

I can't imagine seeing any big gains with your stock throttle body in place, but it shouldn't hurt. I haven't heard of that brand before, nor have I heard of any details regarding results.
