RE: 2nd Gen Dakota Wannabe - Question
I agree, I had a 2003 SXT ClubCab with the 3.9L V6, it is a nice truck but for riding around only not for any truck use.....but I disliked the Gen3 so in 2005 I traded in the 03 and got a slightly used 2004 SLT QuadCab with a 4.7L V8 and can't say enought about how much better the V8 is over the V6, I do only light towing so didn't need a full size truck, I have driven them and found the Dakota QC V8 had everything and more than I needed.....I am never going to let this truck go.....good luck on your shopping

I also agree... get the v8. I just picked up one of these 4.7 QC 4x4's cheep and am in the middle of fixing it up. mine has the 3.92 gearing so I'd assume my mileage is going to suck once it's on the road. It does haul *** though...

I agree with you on the looks. I think most guys with 2nd generations prefer the way their truck looks over the new dak. But yea, there should be a sticker on the glovebox. If it isnt there, do a brakestand burnout and if both tires spin its got a limited slip. Make sure its on normal dry pavement though. sometimes an open differential will spin both if the road is covered in dirt or something.

RE: 2nd Gen Dakota Wannabe - Question
i have a 2004 2wd with the 3.7 and the posi rear.the most i towed was a 28 ft tandem axle all steel race car traier with a 1983 chevy caprice to a demo derby.it pulled ok,nothing great, slow getting up to speed, ans stopping took a good deal longer, and i now pull an 19 foot boat and trailer.i dont have any problems with the boat.however,i am debating getting an engine harness and ecm out of a wrcked one that had the v8 and overhauling the v8 once she is paid for.more power and better sound.this 6 banger sounds ok,but there is just no replacing the sound of an 8.
