Default Leak!

Hi All!
Changed water pump, fan clutch, thermostat and all hoses. Problem near or around the bypass hose. Real PITA to get too. The area has fluid in the well, checked the clamps on the hose and they seem good and in the right posistion. Maybe a defective hose or it has a hole in it that I can't see. This is a V6 magnum and had no leaks before the change. Anyone have this issue? Is there something I'm overlooking? The water pump gasket looks good, the well where the anti-freeze lies is right under that hose. Got to remove pump to remove the hose unless there is another way? Was real careful doing this job but apparently not careful enough. I moved the clamp near the pump closer to the end of the hose cause the nipple has a shoulder on it and I thought maybe I was up on the shoulder a little. This wasn't the problem. By the way, I have to be running a while before this shows up. Any ideas? Thanks!

I had what sounds like the same problem a few weeks ago, and made a post about it.Replaced the bypass hose and all has been good ever since. It wasn't as bad to do as i thought it would be. Heres the link. https://dodgeforum.com/m_993006/tm.htmAny questions just ask.

Yeah, that hose is a PITA. I replaced mine and made sure the clamps are hugging the far end of the hose. Mine is still a slight leak after running a while. I could possibly have an area on the water pump that leaking but it has to be at the very top cause it's dripping down from that hose area. I may redo the gasket on the water pump ... instead of re-doing the hose. Problem with this area is you just can't see with all the hardware in the way. Well, another weekend but my, am I getting faster at tearing this thing apart. I leave the alt and compressor in tact, just unbolt the bracket dissconnect a few plug connections, jerk it out of the way and block it up. Was yours the old hose that you had a problem with or the replaced hose? Thanks!

If your using the stock squeeze-type clamps, get rid of them. They wear out over time.
Replace the the hose too. You'll be good to go.

Yes, I will do that. I never did like those type of clamps anyway. Thanks!

mine was the old one that was leaking. It was all swelled up and had a split in it about 1/4 of the way around the whole hose on the end closest to the intake. When I replaced it i used gear clamps instead.

Did the job over again. Couldn't deal with that leak. What I found was the that the water pump gasket was very dry. I used that "Gasket Shellac"
[sm=badidea.gif] guess I should have used the "Permatex" like I have used for years. I don't know why I didn't. I never had a problem with that as well as the "Teflon" for the threaded block bolts. [sm=smiley20.gif]
