SoCal is burning down
If anyone is watching the news out of Southern California, we are in for a bad time. I live right at the foot of the San Bernardino mountains where the Lake Arrowhead fires are burning out of control in heavy timber.I was comming down the mountain from Octoberfest on Sunday when I saw the first puffs of smoke rising from the fire and I knew it was going to be a disaster. The skys here are orange and its as dark as dusk in the middle of the day. I have several friends with families up there and the worst part about it is that it was arson. In Socal we normaly have onshore winds that bring in moisture from the ocean, but when the winds change direction and blow off the deserts we have high winds, high heat and no humidity, and the fire bugs come out to play. The worst part is that the local news goes on for days about the high fire danger and boom, fires all over the place, and then they spend days afterward covering the fires non stop, so that the fire bugs can enjoy their handywork. It happens every year. [sm=badidea.gif] I honestly blame the nightly news. When the winds start they talk about the high fire danger every five minutes, with a gleam in their eye that looks like they are just waiting for this to happen. Their practicly drooling. And it happens like clockwork.
englitrob you are so right....the news people up here in NorCal are the same way they drool waiting for bad news and if they can cause it they are even that much happier, fire, police shooting, high speed chase.....I am all for them being tossed into the fire and see if they like it....there was one SoCal reporter on the new this morning that was showing that his house had burned and was all boohoo....I feel mean but inside me I was like...that will teach you to wish such bad thing on others now it is time for some payback.....but your are 100% correct about them pushing the setup and every time there is a fire and some wind then keep over reporting it until the nut jobs come out and light a few more....it is like they will say...there is a fire and the wind has it out of control....we better hope we don't get any NEW fires in the south east canyon or over on the north beach area cuz that would REALLY BURN FAST RIGHT NOW.....all they need to do is give them some gas and matches......time to hold them accountable for their careless reporting....ok enough of my ranting......I sure hope you and your family are safe....I have an aunt in San Diego on the south end and she worksintheStevenson Ranch area......stay safe and take care.
There are over 16 fires burning, several lives and thousands of homes lost and nearly one MILLION people displaced and they just arrested someone for trying to start another one. I don't usualy go around saying things like this, but they need the take this guy and burn him alive. Several of the major fires are arson, so i bet its not the first one this guy started. The major fire we had five years ago was also arson, and i bet that guy will get out of prison before some of his victoms get their homes back.
I stood at the shore of a BEAUTIFUL lake in Arrowhead and looked at the houses across the water, thinking about buying one when I retire. The next day they were gone.
Its unbelievable.

There is a fire burning within a mile of my home (Santiago/Silverado/Trabuco Canyon fire). I wish the best of luck to everyone being affected.
