Default RE: Poor man's ram air

I have had my homebrew ram air on for a good 20K miles and it is doing fine. I was replacing my air filter at every oil change but that's just me anyway I almost always replace it at every oil change, now that I have a K&N drop in I will be cleaning it about every 5K miles. Pitkanen If I were you I wouldn't worry about it too much just make it easy to remove in the rain. I can unhook mine in 1 sec from the air box when it's raining if I feel like it and I have left it hooked up in the rain. It gets the filter wet and bogs you down if you don't remove it but won't kill you and that was when I lived in NY and got nasty rain storms on the freeway where all of the other cars were kicking up tons ofmist. I was driving in a pretty heavy rain a couple of days ago here in Reno and had no problems. Also paint it black that might help make it looks better to you.

^thanks for the dick comment but anyways after thinking about it i realized how bad it looks and that its not really doing anything so im gonna take it off and either leave the air horn looking thing off or put it back on.
wasn't being a dick, even you said it looks bad, and the dryer tubeis not helping your truck( . )

At least it wouldn't make it to far though it would definitely kill the engine when it got sucked up though.

Mike, have you checked to see how much water gets sucked into the airbox in the rain with your mod in place?

Every back yard inventor wants to build a version of a ram air inlet.
Chance of making a real improvement: about 1 out of 20

No back yard inventor seems interested in building an improved version of an oil windage tray for the bottom end of the engine.
Chance of making a real improvement: 1 out of 3

What is this oil windage try that you speak of? What kind of improvement will it have?
