Default TOTM!

There's a TOTM notice in the Cummins directory for the competitors, figured I might as well post one up here. My 1999 Dakota R/T w/408ci V8 and other mods is one of the nominees for Truck of the Month - please come participate!

IMHO the wheels look a lot better in person than they do in photos (hard to capture the "invisible lip" effect), but they tend to have a "love it or hate it" effect with people. I'd love to have a set of 20" chrome R/T wheels or 18"/20" Intro wheels, but they cost 4x as much as what I paid for these.

You got my vote, one of a kind headlights to.

how long you been on DF.com? I always see you on DD and Delphi.. not here as much.

EDIT: ya the CTDs on this site are crazy. I was up once for TOTM and got beat by the ugliest CTD ever... nothing special on it what so ever, expect for a pot handle on the tailgate.. pathetic...

I useally never worry about the TOTM now.. ive been nomed like 2 times and the first time was bull****, guy had people sign up and vote with 1 post wonders for a 20+ lead, and 2nd time was just pure BS. ctds stick to ctds... no matter what mods you have done to them, a 5000+ option for the CTD is a better mod then 5000+ in parts, performance, and looks on a dakota... [:@]lol... end rant.

I've been a member here since 10/14/2004. I read up on topics every now and then when time permits at work, but I don't post info here as often as I used to. Sometimes the info I have to share includes links to threads or the multimedia area of my site, and the rules here prevent cross-links of that nature.

ok we all agree... your truck is pretty awesome. I'd love a 408 in my truck but i make 7 bucks an hour doing hotel maintenence. Anyway man.. I gotta know. Is your kota faster or is that charger faster? i'm assuming that charger is yours too. I got my money on the dakota... even though I'm not sure exactly what mods you have... that 408 takes care of most of the difference.

I posted a list of most of the mods in the TOTM thread.

The Dakota is faster - 13.2 (with no traction whatsoever) vs. 13.7. Those #'s are at LVMS with ~5500 DA, almost a full second slower than sea level. I should be running low 12's or high 11's by springtime.

i figured that dakota is faster. Did you run with slicks or street tires? Cal-tracks traction bars are supposed to work really well, you should be able to get into 12's just with traction bars.

I was using a set of 28"x10.5" M&H drag radials - the torque from the 408/4.56's/N2O was simply too much, roasted them like I was on street tires if I sprayed out of the hole. I want to be able to do a full launch w/spray so I will step up to 28x12.5 slicks in the early springtime - LVMS is basically closed down until March so I got my 20's mounted for winter street driving.
