Default Sound Systems

Does anyone have a good site for sound systems. I have no clue about ohms and so on.. I know about watts but I don't understand the Ohms thing.

Also what is the Best Amplified (At a nice cost Not 1000 bucks)

Best Subs? I have the stock speakers in my truck but I am sure they will be loud enough especially if the bass i removed from my stock systems. I hear kickers are one of the best.

One vote for JL Audio Subs.

Amplifiers Im not so sure about. You dont need a 2K watt amplifier to power a pair of subs. 600 watts bridged should do you just fine. Ive had crossfire and pioneer amps before and they worked very well.

Oh and your stock speakers may not be able to handle the extra power put out if you install a new head unit. You might consider new speakers if you are buying an aftermarket cd player.

Generally speaking you will want speakers with 4 ohms or less for car audio applications. Anything higher is usually designed for home audio.

There really is no best amplifier...your best bet is to decide on how much you would like to spend and stick with a name brand. I think I only spent around $200-$250 on my amp and it is more than enough for me. (can't remember the name brand off the top of my head though...American Audio maybe?)
Kicker, JL Audio, and even Pioneer all make decent subs. Again stick with name brands and you'll be fine...except maybe sony xplode. I have a cheap set of Jensen subs in a bandpass box and for the money($99 for the box w/subs) they really don't sound bad but I would prefer the JL's or Kickers.

I am running a high power Pioneer head unit(45W x 4) with the stock speakers and while they sound ok they don't handle the power very well even with the low frequencies cut out...especially at higher volume levels.

Well, I already have a new head unit, and IF I cut out the bass, Im sure I could turn it up louder. I was looking at Rockford Fosgate Subs. And get something like 1000watt amps per each. I have a pioneer which powers 55watts X 4 so it puts out a fair bit. They only get crappy sounding at very loud volumes...

What is the difference between bridging and Parallel?

This is something I might also get. I don't want square because they have a low frequency i think...

Bridging is when you combine the left and right sides together to make one more powerful mono amp...usually this is best for subs. Parallel is just normal stereo mode. Rockford makes very good speakers also. I know with my head unit when I cut the low freq it will go much louder but the vocals will still distort at higher volumes and they may not keep up with a decent set of subs. The subs will drown out the mid/higher freq and it will be pretty much all bass.

As for the 15" kicker sub...I have never cared for the 15" subs...they always sound "muddy" to me. I prefer 12's or even 2 10's.

Two 12's would be much better sounding IMO. Those rockfords look very nice but $449 msrp?????? I'll stick with my cheap $99 specials. lol Personally I would spend $200-$300 on the subs and save some money for some speakers for the doors.
