o2's in the 4.7 don't throw a code until they are dead. usually. also clean and check the connections

To really know if an oxygen sensor is partially 'poisoned' or misbehaving
you almost have to have a scanner
and watch what the O2 sensor does at different engine load conditions
and whether it is 'flipping' around in the correct way
because a 'healthy' O2 sensor does not have a stable voltage output.

I also think there is evidence that NTK brand name oxygen sensors
let the engine run slightly leaner and more efficiently
than richer running Bosch oxygen sensors.

My question about the tstat was partially answered. Why does a cooler engine get better mpg? I wish I could get 16-18mpg and I would be happy. How you doin' it Jonnymagnum? What tire air pressure can you run and still be safe on the highway?

i get 15-20 city-highway in the summer, with a relatively heavy foot, and remember that his is converted from km/liter (damn canadians and their conformist ideals) so its not perfect, i cannot say that it is far off, but conversions are never spot on, just my opinion

Could an O2 sensor be good but yet bad enouh to get les mileage? How much air pressure is still safe air pressure?

cold dense air makes more power... heat up the intake charge 15 deg less will = more power, more power with the same fuel = better mileage

Going to TMS (all highway) for the dickies 500 weekend, I got 24.23 MPG out of my V6.

#1: get a V6
#2: if you get a V8, dont get the 5.9/360
#3: empty your truck of non essentials to cut weight

and when I come home from work, i turn right thengo downhill a mile to get to my driveway. I've now started putting it in neutral when I hit 35 MPH, which i corner at 20 so doesnt take much, and shutting the motor all the way off. Then when i get to 15 MPH, i crank it back over- which is about when I need the powsteering back to get in the driveway (we have a 300 ft driveway). Plus i go exactly the speed limit or just under, regardless of who's on my bumper. And i put an egg under the gas pedal so i can't really push on it too far (next trick might be a throttle stop on the TB lol). I'm getting about 16-17 city.

it also helps that you have a 4x2, i had a 4x2 cc v6 and i was getting 17 city consitantly, now i get about 13-14 (its winter) with a 4x4 and a v8, not complaining, but the bigger engine will get less mileage its a fact of life
