Default lowering and wheel sizing

I'm looking into lowering my Dak with a 2 / 3 drop but not sure of the best components to get.

Also i am planning on new wheels / tires but I'm not sure dimensionally how to figure this. I'm thinking 18"s with 50 series rubber but not sure if this will look to small in the well or ??

Any direction or pics of what someone has done would be great. Thanx

Belltech makes a 2/4 drop that feels dynomite. It's about 400 bux tho. The ride is as good as the stock r/t suspension which to me felt GREAT. I have the 17 inchers and there is about a 3-4 in wheel gap in the front with 275/40 17 tires and about a 4-5 inch wheel gap in the rear with 285/40 17's. The 18's should look PERFECT. I wish mine were another inch larger, but 17's look good tho. (more into performance anyways.)
I would suggest ANYONE dropping their dakota just a little to go with the Belltech Kit. Summit/Jegs offer the full kit: Front Coils, 4 Nitrogen Gas Shocks, Rear Hangers and Shackles. I would also slap the Energy Suspension bushings (Polyurethane vs stock rubber) on the front of the truck while you got it all apart. The stock ones WILL go out sooner or later.

My 2 cents.

I was looking at doing the DJM control arms to maintain the stock geometry and not loose any suspension travel. It didnt shorten up your travel in the front when you when you installed the dropped coils?? Also in the back you didnt have to C-notch it? I heard anything more then a few inches you are close to the frame? Thanks

Well, the rear end came with 4 hangers which are mounted in the same place as the stock ones, but the leaf spring sits lower on them. The MOST difficult part was pulling out the 3/4 inch STEEL rivits that hold on the stock hangers to the frame. The only reason I would not keep the same geometry with a lower suspension is the fact that you will ALWAYS have less suspension travel room when you take inches off, but the Belltech kit comes with all of the parts needed to compensate for that. The shocks that come with them do wonders.

Well, first figure out how low you want to go... If you go lower than a 3-5 drop, I wouldn't go as large as 19's. If you do a 1-2 drop you can't lose with twenty two's!!!
