or you can go hooker aerochamberlike me sounds amazing and in my opinion not as tin canny as a flowmaster and it flows better and id say its between a regular 40 and delta in the sound department heres some clips of it the first one is from the inside with the passenger side windowquarter way down and i was racing it so it was up to almost red line its the one you can hear shifting

I have a 40 that dumps out at the muffler. It is very loud in the cab and outside. If you are worried about resonating inside the cab, make sure that the exhaust runs out from under the truck.

I suppose the pipe after the muffler would make a difference too. i kept my exhaust stock other than the muffler and i think its perfect, it was cheap too

The 40 is pretty loud. Had one for several years and liked it but it did resonate in the cab alot even with the tailpipe still on. Went to a Magnaflow last year and it is just as quiet as the factory can until you step into it.

I put the flowmaster 40, single in, dual out on my 02 quad-cab 5.9L. I had them dump the exhaust out right behind each of the rear wheels. It can get a little loud in the cab, but not too bad. I love the sound when you stomp on it. lol

I would also like to replace the stock muffler on my '02 Quad Cab (4.7) with a 40. Is there an exact replacement (where the stock back-pipe can still be used)? If so what is the part #?

Thanks!

I too would like to know what series FlowMaster muffler to use on my 04 Quad Cab with 4.7 and auto tranny. Want to open up the exhaust a bit. Plus can I get a FlowMaster that will fit in place of the stock muffler or do I need a Cat Back system?
I used to have a 02 Club Cab (4.7 with a 5 speed manual tranny) which had a MagnaFlow Cat Back system (stainless) on it but it was on the loud side when "pressing the pedal". Hard to be quiet when coming home from work at Midnight.
