tire sizes w/no lift
hey,
my truck has 31" toyo oversized tires on stock wheels and stock everything else...stock suspension and no lift. i believe the dakotas come new with 1 or 2 inches smaller than what i am running? anyways i am curious to know....if i leveled the front 2" could i run 32" or 33" tires? on the same sized 15" wheels. the 31's are about 1" away from rubbing in my front wheel wells btw but i am thinking if the front is 2" higher after being leveled it may not rub with 33's. any comments appreciated, thanks

i run 285/75 tires with only slight rubbing on the passenger side. these tires are about 33x11.nxt time i have the wheel off im trimming an inch off the inner fenderwell. theres occasionally slight contact with the frame if im driving like a serious jackass or something. i just have a tortion bar crank. the rubbing is not bad @all.
what do you phyiscally trim from the inner fenderwell and how do you do it? isnt that just a sheet of metal or some kind of guard from the actual frame? oh and jonnymagnum.....i saw the keys i can buy to crank the torsion bars....but what about your blocks? so now your back to having the rear higher than the front again...but everything is 2" higher
the innerfenderweel itself is just a piece of plastic. mine tire rubbed on this onits rear side. i took some shears and just cut a strip out of the plastic an inch or 2 across. problem solved. u can actually trim alot more off if neccessary but debris is then thrown all up under your truck. taking thetire off gives you alot more clearence and acess and leads to a cleaner trimmin job.
I actually bought the re-indexed keys and sold them right after I read the directions. it is the same as just cranking them your self. but instead you have to have a hoist to install them.
and I drove around for acouple months with just the Tbars cranked, and it sat level. but when ever you put anything in the bed, it sagged. I tried helper springs, but didnt like them. so I just went with 2" blocks. so it has a lil bit of a rake to it, but when you put stuff in the bed, it levels out.
I trimmed my innerfenders and some of my front bumper a lil bit. its only plastic.

ohh okay thanks....i am just trying to see what my options and possibilities are because even though i cannot do anything with my truck until the summer it is good to know and talk with others. what kind of shocks do you guys run?? mine is oem but the front are SHOT with 82k miles and they havent been replaced. i know rancho makes good shocks.....i just wish the higher end suspension like "fox suspension" was available for trucks without a lift. most of them say they are designed for lifted trucks. and higher end shocks (front and rear) you might suggest that i can run without a lift kit? thanks very much for your guys' help
