Default Oil pressure!!!!!!

hey I have a 99 5.9 it has 105,000 miles on it,... ok my problem has bin happening for a about a week now, the oil pressure gage in my truck just suddenly drops from around the middle 40 to 0, it doesnt slowly drop so I dont think its a major problem but Im not to educated in the auto area... but like I sed the niddle drops randomly when I drive. I dont think its a big problem cause to me it seems its a sensor issue, what you guys think??? thank for replys

Check the oil level. Pretty common for this to happen when its low.

Very true, but when it's low it usually only happens when coming to a stop or decellerating. Not while just driving. But definatly check it anyways.

Probably just a loose wire somewhere, even a ground one can cause this. This happened to me awhile back and I found a loose ground wire fixed it right up.

could be the oil pressure sensor on the fritz.

the pin hole in ur sending unit is pluged, get a mechanical guage IMO the dash gauge is worthless...

hey yea I checked the oil level and it was low like WAY low.[>:]... and I dont know why it would be I got the oil changed in about a month back, I would think it would have a lot left in it.... theres no leaks or anything that would show me that I lost oil. so new question for me to ask... where the hell did it go? or what happend to it?... I put in about 2 qrts and it fixed the beeping sound but the needle still drop a lil below normal so Im just goin to go get oil put in it. but yea I still dont know what happend to the recent oil??

my 02 4.7 looses a quart every 3000 or so, its a dodge thing, my jeep does the same thing, thats a 5.2

Thus check your fluids at least once a month. j/k
1qt per 5000 mile oil change is normal in just about any vehicle. Some just lose less.

If your truck hasn't ever had the intake pan TSB done, you may want to watch the oil consumption to see if it is alittle excessive.
