Default dak dying

man today was a bad day today, on my way to school my truck was over heating on my way back I took it to a shop cause it was over heating .. problem no coolent, then drove it back home. took it to another shop engine light turned on the cause was a miss fire from a blown spark plug, over heating never stopped so I told the shop people to look at it. checked the oil telling me theres water in side my engine and that the seal was no good.. my water pump my not be working and to top it off I have a hole in my exhaust... so now it just sit in my street. Im left think when to get what fixed first, any ideas.

uuhhh im not really sure what you're trying to say. first of all there's no such thing as a "blown spark plug", the plug might be fouled and not work, but more than likely something is causing it not to fire. from what i can figure out you have a blown head gasket, which would explain water in your oil and overheating because all your coolant is going into the engine... fouling spark plugs..etc. have someone do a compression test, all 8 cylinders should be around 150 psi, if there are some alot lower or higher you're looking at replacing a head gasket, and maybe a water pump because it may have burned itself up.

Replace the head gaskets and do a tune-up. If you feel you can do the work yourself, it won't cost you that much, but will take some time. As far as the exhaust, is the hole in the muffler? You can typicaly get a new muffler installed for around $80-100 at any local muffler shop. I think you need to relax, get a quote from 3-5 local auto shops and go with the lowest one (if you do not feel comfortable doing the work yourself).

you can fix a hole in the exhaust just by having someone weld a patch over it. when i put on my catback i accidentally punched a hole in the cat, so i took it to a muffler shop and a guy welded a patch on it for 20 bucks. worst case scenario is you have to buy a new muffler or a new length of pipe. replacing a head gasket on a 5.9 isnt that hard, any reputable shop should be able to do it for a reasonable price. it's pretty hard to completely destroy a 5.9 unless you're boosting it and starving it for oil. like virused said, call around and find the best price, no big deal.

I assume the shop already pulled the heads since they are saying they are cracked. You can buy remanufactured heads. Some models their reasonable, some not. Remember if you are going to a bone yard, get a quarantee in writing that they are good. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you get the same problem you are having. I personally have good luck with remanufactured heads. If you race, or abuse the motor, you may want to go to Summit racing and see if they have beefed up heads for your application. It's cheaperto do it right now, thanagain later.
