Currently I have a 3.9L magnum and I have dreaded exhaust leak and am looking for some headers or something which I might buy depending on what I decide to do. Here is a set I found but it's for 87-91, http://www.hughesengines.com/partDet...962&eTypeID=10
will these work or no? I thought they were the same but the older ones were carbed not injected.
I dont think they weill work... you need the JBA's. check www.socaldakota.com
Thanks, just wondering do these increase low end torque? I need more of that than top end as my muffler is really free flowing and just about no back flow, because I have a high flow cat, and a magnaflow which is almost like a straight pipe.
if you want more low end, wrap your fuel rails and add a fuel cooler with a fan on it inline between the tank & motor. I did a similar mod on my gasser ram and gained good low end torque & midrange power. plust 6.5% better hiway mileage.
nope, no links. I just wrapped my rails today on the 2000 dak. no cooler mod, just the wrap. a 5.9 swap would be a good one.
Well tomorrow I am going to call some wreckers if I can find a tranny and engine for 500-1000 bucks I will buy it. Block is even worth that. I hope to get running and drop it onto the current tranny. Engine swaps are simple. Just wondering if I need a larger pump, to pass the fuel through. Also, will everything else work other than the computer. It might be coming from a ram, not a dakota but I know the mounts match. Id love to have a v8. Instead of wasting my money on junk lol. Than I can put money into my truck. Id love to buy one of those engines from socal.
With a 3.9 for a 5.9 whats everything that would need changing? From what I know all I need is a cpu.
you'll also need the v8 engine harness that plugs into the ecm for the year truck your installing the engine into.this will also get it to pass emissions if you have those.not positive on anything else-i'll find out when i do mine.
Well, apperently all you need a Year of your truck ecu, harness you can use the v6, and wire in two more injectors, and maybe lengthen some wires... A little grind on a bracket. No emissions here! so no worries.
I wish I didn't have to worry about emissions. Mine is due for one in april and I have a small leak what seams to be post cat. Guess this is a good time to upgrade to that catback dual exhaust I was wanting, but could'nt warrant the couple hundred bucks for.
