Random shut off?
Does anyone know why my truck would just randomly shut off? I will put it in park and it will just shut off sometimes, not all the time. It doesn't sputter it just dies like you shut it off with the key.

Is your idle low? Mine will do this every couple of months. It happens when you are taking the load off of the motor (shifting into park) just as the motor is coming down in RPMs from stopping.
No it just happens when ever. I think I might have water in the tank or something. I poured some of that water remover stuff. Hopefully that helps. It just happens randomly. But my idle does jump around a lot, it goes up and down about 100 rpm. Sometimes it does it sometimes not.
Well, the water didn't fix this. It seems to be getting worse and worse. Unfortunately I can't test the alternator without the alt out. Battery was tested and it's good.
Problem being, it will cut the power to the engine, no stutter, no warning really. I can have it in drive, and when i get to a lower rev usually or sometimes it will like stutter. drop from 1,500 to 500 stop than jump up randomly. Most of the time is will just cut out have to put in neutral, and start up as there is not much room to stop. Sometimes it starts right away, sometimes not. I am not sure what to do. Should I remove the alt? It's simple to do.
I am thinking maybe some sensors too sometimes, because when it drop from 1,500 to 500, i give it gas nothing happens than a couple seconds later boom it kicks off. I plan to sell this truck soon and no one will buy it in this state for sure.
I was thinking TPS, MAP, or Crank sensor.

Make sure that the wiring harness that leads to the crank sensor isnt pinched or burnt. I dont know what engine you have, but this is common on the 2.5 trucks.

Well, I managed to start it some how, it cranks over but won't fire, and it half dies sometimes. I will check the spark on a plug tomorrow and see if it's the coil otherwise I think that it's the fuel pump. (It only dies sometime.s)
I am having a similar problem, runs but has random shutoffs, haven't had time to work on it lately, changed the cam and crankshaft sensors, IAC, TPS and speed sensors, cna one bad coil cause this problem and I also have a bad sending unit on the fuel pump I think, just wanted some input on my problem
