I was thinking that the stalling is caused by a vacuum leak, mine used to do the same in reverse and when turning full lock when goin really slow. Found a vacuum leak, fixed it and it's been fine since.

Good chance that your torque converter is sticking in lockup mode due to low transmission fluid.

What are the odds that my truck has the wrong dipstick? The fluid level was low but I added a little at a time untill it was in the hash marks when hot and in neutral. It seems better but still acts up on and off. If I had the wrong dipstick and the level was low then?..... Could the fluid just be worn out? I bought the truck used and don't know when it was changed last or if it was ever changed.
