A while back I entered in my VIN on a dodge website and it emailed me the build sheet. I was just looking over it again and noticed that I have a 22 gal tank. But since I have owned the car, whenever I am on empty I never put more than 17 gals into it. Where are my other 5? Could the float be messed up inside the tank?

 

where is your empty when you fill up i have the 22 gallon and its around 15-17 when its around a quarter left. could be the float as well or it could be an error not sure how to check and see for sure. is it ever over 17 to fill up?

 

i also have a 22 gal. and i had to replace the pump 3 times and when i fill up the needle on the dash is like a 1/16 over full and i run out at a 1/16 befor empty(E) when i ran out completely i was towed to a gas station and i put in 21.5 gallons in

 

It is all the way E when I fill up and I have never put more than 17 gals when it is that low.

 

My window sticker says mine has a 24 gallon tank but there is no way, I filled up at just under a quarter of a tank and it only took 17 gallons and I've had the low fuel light come on and filled it up and it only took 18.5.

 

mine is the 22 gallon also. when my fuel light comes on i have 4 gallons left. like the others said, maybe its a float unless the level is measured electronicly. i couldnt tell ya, sorry

 

ell they only offered three tanks on these trucks, 14, 22,24 gallons, i have the 24 gallon tank and when my light comes on i have about 4 gallons left, the most i have ever put in is 21 gallons and that was wayyyy tooo empty for me and the fuel gagues in these trucks are not the best by a long shot they seem to get less accurate with time mine can move from the time a shut the truck off to the time i start it again the gauge will read a little different for example when i park at home it might read a little over half a tank next time i go to drive it it reads alittle under 1/2 a tank, but i would not let the truck run down to the lite i always fill up at or before 1/4 tank left, but thats just me and how i was brought up

 

There is a 4 gallon's or more once it hits empty. This is to cool the fuel pump. I have drained mine pretty close. But I was short on money that week lol. I can run below empty for a couple of days...

i have dreven chrysler cars from 1965 i have had over 35 cars. i can say one thing about mopar gas gauges, THERE NOT EVEN CLOSE.

yeah i have a quad cab (comes with the 24 gallon) and i havent ever run it down past about 21.5 gallons left. best case scenario... fill it up at a quarter. my tank will read way above a quarter and then when i turn it off and turn it back on, it will read below a quarter, just to be careful and not have the problem of running out of gas, fill it up around 1/4
