Default Comment on this truck?

http://newjersey.craigslist.org/car/601910173.html

4.7L , 106,000 Miles, 5 Speed Manual Transmission, 4 Wheel Drive, Cold A/C, Leather interior with Bucket seats and Center Console, AM/FM CD with AddOn XM Satelite Radio, Bed Liner and Bed Extender, Class 111 Trailer Hitch with Towing Package.
Black Exterior Color, Grey Interior, Body and Interior are in real good shape. The truck shows great and looks sharp after it's washed.
Things the truck needs:
1, Front Driveshaft (Is removed works fine as 2 wheel drive) Approx. Replacement cost $200
2,L/F cv joint has some play and will need replaceing. Approx. Cost $350 for whole axle or $75 for the joint.
3, ABS Pump Runs continueslly It's unplugged and works fine without ABS. Approx Cost $100
4, R/S Power Windows need work. Never use them with the Cold A/C. New cables or motors Approx. Cost $150
5, Speedometer just stopped working started same time the ABS Pump went out and the Motor started haveing stalling problems when you come to a stop. I believe these problems are all tied together because before everything was fine. The truck has never been to a mechanic for diagnosis.
Motor runs great and neither burns or leaks oil. Clutch works fine. Tires are fair could use replaceing in about 1000 miles. After roughly $900 worth repairs you'll have a great family truck below market value. Truck is being sold as-is $6000

Any comments about the repairs needed on this? Could the speedo and stalling problems simply be a matter of the speed sensor, idle air motor or TPS ?

Should I be able to find a quad cab 4x4 4.7 5spd for around that much without issues?

KBB says 6600 for that year/make/model/color/options in "fair" condition.

Then again it says $8000 for one in excellent condition. Even if it were $5000, not sure what itwould take to get it into "excellent" condition assuming I do all the work myself.[/align]

I have to agree with Imnothot....seems almost too honest.

Id keep looking....I know the Magnum engines last forever (130k on mine)but I'd be hesitant to buy anything with over 100,000 miles on it if i didnt know the person pretty well.

Just be patient...

Yea, 5k is a little too cheap, almost too good of a deal. I know my 02 isnt in the greatest shape, but I know i could still sell it for about Nine, and I have about 107k miles on it.

yah too much wrong. it doesn't sit very high from what the pics show.. i thought it was a 2wd... could just be the photo tho. but 6000$ for an 01 with that many problems is not worth it. you'll be spending another couple grand if ur pay'n a mechanic to fix that stuff. wait it out and find a better deal. someone who didn't let everything pile up and then sell it. obviously he didn't take care of it. but rather just let everything go untill he can't drive it anymore. lol sad

good luck.

ps. im pick'n up my new truck today!!! ill post pics!

A truck that has issues, is just going to have more issues down the road obviously it's not always true but more than likely you will have nothing but problems. Sounds like this guy like jumped the truck... or something dump happened.

i think it is overpriced for the work that it needs. i would especially be concerned about the speedometer problem...another guy is having a problem with that...read this thread... https://dodgeforum.com/m_1239185/tm.htm
