Default Transmission & Rear End Noise

I have a 99 Dakota 3.9 V6 Automatic. The transmission does not shift from low to second the way it should (hesitates) and slips occasionally when first starting off. If I shift the transmission manually it acts completely different & does not slip. I also hear a roaring noise from the rear of the truck. Do I have a transmission issue or a differential issue? Please Reply

Both were serviced two weeks ago. Problem already existed. I just purchased the truck & knew the problems existed. Just wanting to have the repairs made, but thought I would ask some questions from experienced Dakota owners first. What do you recommendrepairing first, Tranny or Differential?

as for the rear end, go to the magazine stand and get a 4x4 mag, they have adds from rear end shops, any of them should be ably to help. are you sure they put lube back in the rear end?

Sounds like your front band is in need of a Replacement or adjustment.
