Default CB's and PA's

Just hooked up a CB radio in my dakota, its in a temporary position at the moment. Anyone here with a Dakota with a CB in it? Where did you mount it?

Another question thats more important, i have a PA speaker i want to install under the hood, but i don't see to know a good place to mount it. Where would be a good place?

i had mine mounted right underneath the HVAC controls, right over the cup holders, i took it out though, i rarely used it, may put it back in one day, who knows

and mount the pa speaker either in the fender, on the firewall above the elft engine bank or in the bumper, but it wont last long in the bumper since its gonna be exposed to the weather

My post isnt going to be any help...i have the same issue. With the manual transmissionthe CB wont fit under the dash...wouldnt be able to put it into 3rd or 5th gear. I have the extended cab though, so i just throw mine in the back seat when im not using it. I pretty much only use it when im on the interestate or traveling anyway.
If you come up with any ideas though i'll be listening .

ok and sorry for my ignorance..but what is a PA speaker? And whats it for?
thanks in advance,
Mac

I made a mount out of wood and put it above the coin tray on the floor. It works well there, but I don't have buckets. My question is where you mount the antenna. I can't get very good SWR behind the cab.

i was thinking of putting mine rite above the cup holders and have it sunk down as much as possible and hang the mic from the rear view mirror like my friend

That seems like an ok place. My idea was mounting it to the side of the console in the floor, this way doesn't obstruct my cup holders. Just don't like the idea of drilling a lot of holes.

As for the PA, that might be my only options.

i have manual transmission too and was having a hard time finding a spot for mine. i dont have it installed yet but have played around with a location, and the best spot i could find was under the ashtray as far back as i could get it and as far to the right without the shifter hitting it. it would help if i had a smaller sized CB but mine is standard. i think im going to get a new one anyway and get a small compact sized one, so that will help.

a PA is a public address speaker, most CB's have a switch so you can go between CB and loud speaker so you canyell at idiot drivers over a loud speaker lol

Yeah, its pretty awesome to have lol. Try it with someone new to your truck, while they're under the hood, key the mic and yell at them(i've seen this happen, its priceless)...

My only problem is my truck just doesn't have much room to mount it in, so thats the challenge. If i had not of gotten rid of my schmeBay "CAI", i might have alittle room. With stock there really isn't any room at all. There has to be someone up here with a PA on their dak.
