unbeliveable. when your ugly *** third gen dak has over 250,000 miles on it and still runs perfect, then you can talk ****. and heavyk is right, you should do a little research before you make bull**** claims. the 3.9 in my 01 is drastically improved over the 3.9 in my 88. your 3.7 makes more power, but at a higher RPM and pretty much useless when it comes to torque. and when you claim your engine is more mechanically sound than a 3.9 you're talking out your ***. the 3.9 is battle tested and probably the most bulletproof engine ever to go in a dak. oh and by the way, when i feel like it i can get 25 mpg on the highway 19 city. i think they're probably about the same.

Men...fighting like women...DodgeForum.com

I'm going to get in my big, red, slow 3.7L Dakota and treat her to a fresh air filter. +1 HP

Well said....anyway you have my vote. Get a used Japanese hatchback with a 4 banger and a stick shift, that doesn't smoke, whine or grind.

PS My truck loves the new air filter in case you were wondering.

i still think he should get a little moped or whatever it was he was talking about, especially if it's gas mileage he's worried about. you might just have to tell your mom to back off. of course if you get a bike you'll have to live with the fact that you'll look like an idiot and people will probably make fun of you. i know i would.

"Shibby" your truck is a puss, and you claim that your mighty 3.7 liter has "more power". Why dont you step up from little 6 cylinders and join the men with V8's? Your "truck" is better looking? Yea right, 3rd generationdakotas areone of the ugliest vehicles on the road (except for the 08's those are ok)

Now onto my favorite part of your post, that "dinosaur" '88 will outlast all of your vehicles. Next time you're trying to insult someone about their truck try actually reading, you make yourself look like an ***.His truck is a 2001, not a 2000
Stfu, If I wanted an 8 I would have bought one I saved a good chunk of money. I'll buy what I want you worry about yourself. Hell the 4.7 only makes 20 more horsepower stock than the 3.7 its barely noticeable. As for my truck being better looking its all in how one person looks at it, to me its good looking to you its not, matter of opinions we need to agree to disagree. Besides we're driving Dodge so lets save the bashing for some ford or chevy fanboys. Also how do you know if an 88 will outlast my vehicle its still new! OMFG I was off by a year! I'm sure you have never made a simple typo in your life... whatever man keep tossing out playground insults all you want.

The 3.7 ain't a brand new engine either its got a few years under its belt. I wont debate that your 88 is a good truck, I think all generations of Dakotas are good looking vehicles and I think the 3.9l has been a good engine since it was first used in Dakotas. I had 2 Gen 1s, I loved both of them but since I have driven both of them I know the difference in the 3.9 and the 3.7. If the 3.9 was such a great engine Chrysler would't have ousted it. 25mpg with a 3.9? Now whose talking out their ***?

Its all a matter of opinion, I simply took offense to your original comment because I think it was out of place. Nobody needs to bash anyone on these forums. We are all Dodge owners and we should stick together if anything, not sit around like a bunch of pre-schoolers throwing out stupid insults at one another.

Based on what you said you are talking out of your ***. I have gotten 25mpg on the highway servale times based on math not the over head computer.

And to LoadPedal get you a cheap japence 4banger sedan. You would not believe the insurance on two door civics and eclipes.

I can not spell so do not bring that up.

you dont think my 3.9 cant get 25 mpg on the highway? take a look at the mods in my signature, and theres a few more i dont have listed. and by the way when you say that a 4.7 only has 20 more horses and it doesnt really make a difference, you are dead wrong. the v8 produces alot more torque and there is a HUGE difference. furthermore, the 3.7 and 4.7 are not time tested and or as reliable as the LA engines, they've been plauged with a mystery knock, most of which are a valve lash adjuster problem, and a sludge buildup problem ever since they came out. they also dont have hardly any aftermarket support for mods, and even if they did they cant handle boost or nitrous due to the plastic intake manifold that will blow to smitherines. dont get me wrong, the 4.7 is a decent engine, but it never was and never will be a powerhouse. Right now they're producing a little over 300 horses stock, but theres not much more room for improvement.
I dont normally insult people on this forum, but loud pedal's an exception. He's the one that came on here bad mouthing everyone first, not me. if you dont like me, thats fine, i really dont care. I help out alot of people on here and alot of people help me out, thats what matters. However, "shibby", from what ive seen, you havent offered any knowledgeable advice to anyone, so you're pretty much a waste of bandwidth.
