Default 5.9L Engine Swap

hey guys, i have a 2001 Dak with the 3.9l v6 and i want to swap it out for a 5.9l that is currently in a 1999 durango. other than the engine itself, what parts am i going to need (i.e. motor mounts, electrical equip, etc.)? any suggestions about the swap itself would be greatly appreciated too.

The Harness, Make sure it has the flex plate.

The harnesses are usually slightly different from year to year so you might have to do some splicing but nothing major. Mounts are all the same, not sure if yours is 4x4 or not, but on 2wd, iv heard you need to grind the motor mount a little bit to make it work. But no integrity is reduced on the mount. Other than that it pretty much drops in, I suggest removing the rad and fan to make your life a little bit easier...

All you need to do I think is use the brackets off the 3.9 and put them on the 5.9... I think that will save you grinding...

Almost forgot you need the computer. Some people tell me some years don't work, like bellow with above but I never confirmed it. My 1997 works with a 1999 computer.

If you're doing a V6 to V8 swap, do you swap the whole harness over? I'm think about 6 fuel injectors vs. 8. Obviously you'll have to have the 8 cylinder PCM, but what about the injector wiring?

I am not sure how it will line up with your drive shaft, but it should work. I think the cases are identical, at-least from looking at one thats what it looked like. Not sure if the cross member will be in the same place, make sure you get the converter too...

Now you really will want the harness because it will correspond to the same transmission and everything will be the same, plus just leave the harness on the v8 when they remove it, boom, you just made your job a little bit simpler... Clean your crank sensor while you have them apart just in case... That way you don't have to fiddle if you have to replace it. (You know it's clean, so the sensor is shot. )
